The small low budget Sa Bassa Blanca museum of the Fundacion Yannick y Ben Jakober is on the north coast of the island of Mallorca, Spain. It shows Old Master portraits of children from the 16th-19th centuries and contemporary art in a bucolic setting.  It is presently seeking a Director of Exhibitions and Development, this new position requires an energetic, charismatic, innovative and entrepreneurial “hands-on” approach person, ideally between 30 and 40 years old with experience. The applicant will be bilingual in Spanish and English; preferably with a working knowledge of Catalan and German, a love and knowledge of the Arts and an understanding of education and social impact. He or she will be responsible to the President and Trustees working in close cooperation with the existing Administrative Director and her team.

The successful candidate will be asked to follow and improve the course set by the foundation since its inception in 1994, backed up by the existing staff, in the following areas:

-Continue and expand the free outreach arts learning program for Mallorcan schoolchildren.
-Increase public awareness and the number of visitors to the museum. Renew exhibitions by rotation of the holdings.
-Negotiate loans of the foundation’s works of art to other museums. Fundraising and representation.
-Develop the presence of volunteers.
-Organize the gift shop to maximize revenue and strengthen sales of sculpture editions and publications.
-Develop food and beverage operations.
-Strengthen local, state and European subsidies.
-Attract paying corporate events.
-Develop media coverage of the museum and its activities.

Plan and supervise the conservation of the art works and maintenance of the buildings and property with the responsible staff for these areas and turn to outside contractors when necessary.
